Vintage Leather Jacket Prices: What to Pay in 2026

What Leather Jackets Cost: Price Guide from The Foundry Journal

A vintage leather jacket is one of the few things that gets better with every year you wear it. Most ask under $250, and the leather has already done the hard part of breaking in. Here is what the jackets we carry are asking right now, and why a few ask six times that.

What it costs right now

Prices below are asking prices on the 75 pieces live on Foundry, checked 26 October 2026. Every piece is one of one and sold by an independent seller on eBay, where offers often bring the final price lower.

Across all 75 pieces, asking prices run from $26 to $1,500. The middle sits at $175.

Style Pieces Asking range Typical
Biker, bomber and everyday 21 $26 to $450 $130

What moves the price

  • The maker. Double D Ranch is the clearest example. Nine of its jackets are live, from $250 to $1,500. Other studded Western jackets mostly ask $150 to $250.
  • The detail. Studs, fringe, beading and fur trim push prices up. A plain black biker can ask under $150. The same cut covered in conchos can ask several times that.
  • The team. NFL leather jackets swing hard on the team and the colourway. Most ask $25 to $275. One 49ers bomber asks $900.
  • The leather itself. Soft, even creasing is a good sign. Dry, cracked panels and peeling finish are not. Check the elbows, the collar and the lining before you pay.

How to check what it actually sold for

Asking prices are a starting point. Sold prices are the truth. Before you buy or make an offer, run this check.

  • Search the piece on eBay with the brand, the model or style name and the colour.
  • Switch on the Sold items filter. The prices in green are what people actually paid.
  • Match condition and size as closely as you can. Three to five close matches beat one perfect one.
  • Add shipping to both sides. A cheap piece with $40 postage is not a cheap piece.

If the sold prices sit well below the ask, you have a case for an offer. If they sit near it, the listing is fairly priced and a small offer is the most you should try.

Where the value is

Plain biker and bomber jackets are the value end, and often the best leather. Several ask under $60, including two G-III Global Identity bombers from the 90s. If you want a statement piece, fur-trimmed jackets sit in a tight $165 to $450 band and look far more expensive than they are. Browse everything live in the vintage leather jackets collection.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a vintage leather jacket worth?

The leather jackets live on Foundry right now ask from $26 to $1,500. The middle sits at $175.

How do I check a vintage leather jacket before buying?

Ask for photos of the elbows, collar, cuffs, zips and lining. Soft, even creasing is fine. Cracking, peeling and a broken main zip are reasons to offer lower or walk away.

Can a dry vintage leather jacket be saved?

Usually, if the leather is dry rather than cracked. A good leather conditioner brings back a lot. Cracks that go through the surface do not heal.
